Entering Punta del Este through the Interbalnearia Route (after having passed by Punta del Chileno and Laguna del Diario), we shall find the residential district of Pinares. An outstanding calm and exclusive environment, surrounded by nature but near downtown, full of wonderful villas and large wooded parks far away from the city noise. There are no high buildings in Pinares and the streets, such as La Rambla, are quiet and ideal for walks or bicycle rides along La Mansa beach.
Nature displays its entire splendour in stunning sunsets, the smell of flowers, the songs of numerous birds and the annual welcome to whales at Maldonado Bay.
Its beaches have countless tourist resorts where windsurf, delta surfing and jet skiing, among many other water spots, can be practiced.
Punta del Chileno: Punta del Chileno is a rocky cutwater surrounded by a reef of 1,650 feet long. This formation turns it into a perfect site for tourist expansion. To that aim, an important investment to develop a new sport harbour with a mooring capacity of 700 boats, a commercial area and an international casino, among other projects, is foreseen.
Laguna del Diario: The name of this site (“Daily Lagoon” in English) derives from the days in which the inhabitants’ horses of “daily” use were taken to pasture in its coasts. This lagoon flows transversally to the seashore, barely separated from it by the 160 feet that the Interbalnearia Route occupies (which has an extension of approximately 10 acres). On the shore there are beautiful residences and a small beach where surfboards can be discharged and where motor sailing is forbidden in view of preserving the environment.
